A Brief Introduction to Xianyang Vocational and Technical College 

Xianyang Vocational and Technical College (XVTC) was founded in 1937, approved by Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government and filed by the Ministry of Education. Additionally, it is the only directly affiliated full-time public general institution of higher learning of Xianyang Municipal People’s Government.

XVTC is located in Xixian New Area, the country’s first national-level new district with the theme of innovative urban development. Specifically, the college is situated in Fengxi New City which is the sub-center of the greater Xi’an area (Xi’an, Xianyang and Xixian New Area) and a gathering place for emerging industries. It covers an area of 214 acres, with a total construction area of 400,000 square meters, a total value of 950 million yuan in fixed assets, and 150 million yuan in teaching equipment. There are 2 school-enterprise productive training base projects under Action Plan on the Innovative Development of Higher Vocational Education (2015-2018), 3 provincial higher vocational demonstration training bases, 237 on-campus training rooms and training bases, and 211 off-campus training bases.

There are around 1,180 faculty members and about 20,000 full-time students in the college. XVTC consists of 13 departments which offer 50 majors in about 10 categories, covering disciplines in medicine, machinery, electronic information, construction, automobile, chemical industry, finance, teacher training, agriculture and forestry, among which nursing is the project supported by the central government to enhance the development capacity of the professional service industry. There is a first-batch national vocational college demonstration major site, 3 national key majors, 3 provincial demonstration majors, 2 provincial first-class majors, and 5 first-class cultivation majors. The teachers have won a second prize for National Teaching Achievement Award, 2 first prizes and 1 second prize in the National Vocational College Teaching Ability Competition, 1 first prize in the national college teaching display of ideological and political theory courses, and 1 special prize, 2 first prizes, 6 second prizes for Provincial Teaching Achievement Award of Shaanxi Province.

The college adheres to the school motto “With self-discipline and ability Enhancement, we dedicate to cultivate talents and benefit People”, to the teaching style of elaboration and practice, percepts and deeds, to the study style of diligent study and hard training, and aspiration to be talents, and to the philosophy of student-oriented, quality-based college with all-round development, and high-quality employment. On the basis of above, the various undertakings of the college are flourishing, and the achievements in running the college are remarkable. The college has won the titles of Provincial Civilized Campus, Provincial Advanced Collective of Employment, Provincial Model Higher Vocational College, National Civilized Unit, National Greening Model Unit, etc. XVTC was selected as a construction unit for high-level disciplines with Chinese characteristics and for a provincial “Double High-Level Initiative”, and into the 2022 list of typical colleges and universities for the construction of the national higher vocational college governance system.
