Date:2021-09-22  |  Author:FENG Dong

On September 21st, an early autumn day, XVTC welcomes over 6,700 freshmen of class 2021 from all across the country, who will sail together towards their dreams.

Bright and eye-catching welcome banners and signs on both sides of the road fill the campus with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff and volunteers, who are fully prepared as early as dawn, provide freshmen and their parents with help and service including transferring luggage, airport/railway station pick up, campus tour and etc.

In the morning, Zhang Di, Party Secretary of the college, inspected and guided the orientation work, inquiring about the registration of new students as well as the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures. Zhang told the staff to do a good job in epidemic prevention and control, ensure the safety and stability of the campus, pay attention to the needs of new students and provide quality services for new students.

In order to ensure the orderly orientation of freshmen under the background of the normalized epidemic prevention and control work, the College has established a leading group for the enrollment of freshmen in the fall of 2021 to carefully formulate the orientation plan and take full responsibility for the enrollment of freshmen. A series of meetings have been held to arrange the preparation for fall semester and the deployment of epidemic prevention and control, formulating a work plan which covers a wide range of issues such as the health monitoring of teachers and students, freshman registration, campus environmental hygiene, food safety, service guarantee, epidemic prevention and control drills and etc. The efficient and convenient registration process, meticulous and thoughtful services and supereminent epidemic prevention and control, which is a result of coordinated cooperation of a variety of departments as well as hard work of XVTC staff and volunteers, have drawn widespread praise from freshmen and their parents.

On the day of registration, strict epidemic prevention and control measures and temporary traffic management measures are taken in order to ensure the smooth operation of the campus and traffic safety. Under the guidance of volunteers, new students enter the campus through multiple channels orderly after having their health code, travel card, and nucleic acid results checked as well as their temperature taken. Baggage transporting service is also provided by the school for free in order to expedite the registration process. In combination with their specialty characteristics, secondary colleges have prepared all kinds of welcome programs and given out welcoming gift packages. Q&A has also provided to help freshmen enhance their sense of identity and belonging and get familiar with college life in the shortest possible time.

The scenario of students waiting in lines due to manual verification of documents as in traditional registration process is not seen this year. Instead, XVTC has streamlined the registration process by employing a hybrid orientation method, which works online and offline. Face registration technology helps to complete the identity check within three seconds. New students can also log in to the orientation system to complete information collection and tuition payment with just one click. All these measures are to ensure both epidemic prevention and control and orderly registration. In addition, there is a big screen showing real-time registration statistics automatically generated by the registration system. The college has also set up a "green channel" for students in need, providing student loans to help realizing their dreams of pursuit of a college diploma.

Best wishes for the freshmen of 2021! Hope they will cherish their time in college, writing a beautiful chapter of youth in the new era as they embark on a new journey at XVTC, the cradle of craftsmen.
